Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). The following year, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988 was named Chief Correspondent to Congress. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable news stories throughout time, including the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as The Iran Contra scandal. She travelled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
